I’m engaged, now what?
Congratulations, you are engaged to the love of your life! You might be saying to yourself, “I’m engaged, now what?” Here are 5 tips that can help get the wedding planning process started without being too overwhelming.
- What’s your budget?
Deciding on a budget is the hardest step, but figuring out numbers early on will help everything go smoothly.
- What’s your vision/goal?
Are you looking for a wedding that is more DIY or all inclusive? What vendors are you not willing to settle on? What aspects of the wedding are you OK with not doing?
- Use your resources.
Someone’s wedding day is usually the happiest day of their lives, so they typically like to talk about it and share ideas! Use these resources to your advantage when searching for inspiration. Make sure you don’t forget the internet as it is full of great resources!
- Be flexible and realistic.
In the midst of Pinterest boards, Instagram and DIY, it can be very easy to get carried away with the theme of your wedding. Trust me, I have a tendency to fall into that trap! Try to keep an open mind when discussing your vision, and take suggestions from the professional vendors. On a budget? It is OK to consider a Friday or Sunday wedding date. Your vendors will happily provide feedback on alternate options, which may be better for you (and your wallet) than the original plans.
And finally …
- Just have fun!
I will say this a million times to clients! You’re inviting your friends and family to celebrate the love you share with your fiancé. If at any point it becomes overwhelming, take a breather and start back up tomorrow. And if that doesn’t help, hire a wedding planner that can help alleviate those headaches.
These are just the top 5 quick tips and tricks. If you still are feeling overwhelmed or stressed out by all the decisions you have to make, take time to find a wedding planner that can help ease some of the stress!
